Do you mean two shots of the same every time?

Check your quality settings. If you have Raw+Jpeg than you end up with 2 files per picture. This is normal with that setting. If you don't want the RAW file, just adjust your settings to have only Jpeg as quality.

Read your manual, it's all in there.

Could you possibly have the camera set to Continuous Release Mode?
I don't have the D90 so I can't tell you where in the manual to look, but I know it's there.

And please take a moment or two to fill in some profile info.

Look at page 121 of the Users Manual. Turn Multiple Exposue off.
I don't own this camera. I just took a quick look at the Manual. If this does not work there must be another menu setting.
