NIkon in Space

Here is a quote from an astronaut in the space station:

"We use primarily Nikon F2s and F3s, with a variety of lenses"

cool that Nikon is still used, but,, surprising that film is still being used, almost crazy, why not digital at this point? I guess the s means space.

They do use digital as well

I am wondering if these cameras add digital backs in place of the film plates, I remember that that is how the first digital cameras were made.
