D7000 Lens Question

Has anyone tried the Nikon 70-200 f/4G ED VR AF-S Nikkor Zoom Lens on their D7000? I would really like the 70-200 f/2.8...but find it hard to justify the cost - so I was looking at this as an alternative. Thanks...

I have not, but I'm looking at this for my D600. It will give you a field of view equal to 140mm-300mm, nice range. All of the reviews I have read are very positive!

I have the 80-200 2.8, but for slower lens, I am really starting to love my 80-400 Nikkor lens, for more reach, and sharp enough.

One of the specs I really like about the f4 version is the min focus distance is down to 1 meter, significantly less than the 2.8.

look very closely at the 70-300 first! excellent results and that extra reach really pays off!

But at a cost and at 300mm in early morning that f5.6 is just not enough for some types of photography. it was not even close for me so I bought the 70-200 2.8 VR back when it was new and cost $2000. now you can find used good glass like mine for $1100-$1300 from companies like BorrowLens.com.
The 70-200 f4 is a great lens and will work great on your D7000 BUT if your into wildlife photography hold out or find a 2.8
