possible dead pixels

i do alot of night shooting and long exposure photography...... 3 minute exposures of a life boat station and shooting cars at night..... anyway lastnight after shooting a car i have noticed a blue blotch... my mate thinks its a dead pixel..... do you agree? and what can i do about it? throw camera away or is it an economical repair or reset of software?

HELP!!!

I don't think a dead pixel would do a blue blotch. A dead pixel would show as black on a white background.

I suspect what you are seeing is simply digital noise that happens once a while specially with longer exposures.

If it's just a dot, just retouch it out.

Does it show as well in normal pics? If not, don't worry too much about it.

Just my humble opinion. And I have been wrong before… well, at least one time… ;)

Possibly long exposure noise? They say it's possible for anything over 30 sec, so you certainly qualify. If it's a dead pixel issue then it should manifest itself on every shot from now on, otherwise it's an isolated issue with that exposure.
