AF-F Focus Mode!

I have a D3000 that I've been using for about three years now. It doesn't focus at the touch of the shutter release. It only autofocuses when I press the AE-L/AF-L button to the right of the viewfinder. Is there any setting that I'm overlooking that will allow me to use the shutter release focus or was that one of the features that was left off the D3000? Thanks! :)

Question: Has it been doing this for the last 3 years? My first DSLR was a 3000 and it did not do this to me. I would imagine you may have set something by accident. I can only suggest you set your camera back to factory defaults. Perhaps someone else can give a less painful solution.

It had never worked for some reason. But I reset all of the settings back to the factory standard and it works now. Thank you! :)
You are welcome. I hope that now all you have to do is half-depress the shutter button to focus and then press all the way to take the picture.
