Scarecrow : CD Cover and Insert Photos

John Blaze, aka Scarecrow was recently signed to an independent record label and I had the pleasure of working with John and the band. These images are the finals selected by John and the producer to be used for the CD.

Camera:
Nikon D700

Lens:
[1] Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VRII
[2] Zeiss 100mm f/2
[3] Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8

Settings:
[1] 200mm, ISO 200, f/11, 1/125s
[2] ISO 200, f/5.6, 1/125s
[3] 38mm, ISO 200, f/16, 1/125s

Lighting:
[1] 22" Beauty dish, no central disc, no diffusion [positioned to camera left]
[2] 24" x 32" Softbox w/grid [positioned to camera right]
[3] 69" Octa w/central white diffusion disc and inner diffusion [positioned approximately 10 feet high and on the lens' horizontal axis, shown below]

Very cool - congrats these are awesome I can understand why they chose them. :) Than you for the info & photo of the setup for #3. The building with that old door made great backdrop. The B/W treatment sure makes the photo.

Hi Sam,

Thank you. I shoot at that location quite a bit. That's a very long wall that offers many great spots with interesting old doors, windows, ivy growing up the side, cracks, etc.

That's great - you just gave me an idea! Stay tuned I will be going out this week to get some "non wildlife shots" There is an old sanatorium( used to be for TB patients in the 30's) it's been abandoned for the past 30 years.

That sounds cool, Sam. Those old buildings are so great for shooting on location. There's an abandoned psychiatric hospital near me that I'm planning on using for a shoot with my sidekick, Pamela.
