OK, so I'm slow, but necessity IS the Mother of Invention......

Ted, I was gonna sell mine when I got my 300... the after comparing nuts & bolts.. I figured I would not get that much for it... it is smaller and lighter than my 300 so when I have no intention of long reach, I often still carry the 200. If I am planning to shoot wildlife, birds in flight, aircaft etc, I grabbed the 300.

so.. for now anyway, I have kept mine...

I probably won't sell it, but I'll carry the 300 from now on when I go D5100 trekkin'.

Here'a a few FX lens on a D5100 comparisons I just did. The only VR lens is the 300 as the 24-120 and 60 macro, aren't. The 24-120 and 60 do not auto focus. I believe I would have gotten crisper results with a tripod, but it still shows the potential and ability to use.

This the 70-300VR with a 100% Crop on the left side.

This is the 24-120 Street Sweeper with the 100% crop on the left.

And finally, the 60mm 2.8 macro with the obvious 100% crop on the left.
