At my level of experience the 365 challenge probably wouldn't benefit me. I think I would end up with a bunch of snaps. So, I will work on learning my D300 and recently obtained SB-800 flash.

My project 52 may have weeks of learning things like how to bounce flash or learning the back button focus feature. I am also doing photo assignments with a friend who moved out of state. We are deciding on 2 assignments a month to work on. Our first assignment is low light and night, but we won't be comparing photos until the 15th.

I will also be trying to participate in more of the weekly assignments here on Nikonites.

I am am challenging myself to learn the technical side and take a decent photos with what I am trying to learn.

Now I have to learn or be publicly shamed. I scared.:distress: Just kidding. I am going to be a better photographer by the end of the year.

Dawg, I respectfully tell you that you are wrong. You sound EXACTLY like the person that would benefit most and here is why. At first you will start out with a bunch of snaps, but after the first few weeks you get bored shooting snaps and start to force yourself to try new things and explore your understanding of the exposure triangle.

If you don't want to do a Project 366, that's cool. But don't recuse yourself because you think it's something over your head.

Looking forward to seeing your work.

No worries, I figured somebody would call me out on that.
Thanks for the encouragement and the respectful kick in the rump. I could do the 366 if I post my crappy iPad snap.

Was practicing with back-button focus and use of my long lens. I was trying to get used to using a different button and hoping to see a squirrel on the roof or something but nope. I posted one of these as an example of opening a jpeg in camera raw to fix bad WB. Both of these were taken with the wrong WB settings, and were washed-out. I try not to post the same photo in multiple threads, but for this one I made an exception.

I found these yellow-tipped feathers in the back yard. I don't have any clue what kind of bird these belonged to, but I am guessing it was a victim.
This was taken with the on-board flash because I can't seem to figure out my new flash. I also need some appropriate lighting to take composed shots.

if you still have the feathers they should make a nice shot for this weeks challenge "trio".
