Moab Man's 366 in 2016

I'm in for this year. My objective is to refine some of my techniques and be a little more disciplined with some of my techniques. First up, almost like a new years resolution, is to be very regimented about using my Expodisc. I have had Expodiscs for years, but have not been as regimented in using them as I should. I buckled down as of about a week ago and started using it religiously, I even read the instructions a few times to make sure I was using it absolutely correctly. It's amazing what you learn when you read instructions with a genuine interest to learn. What I have learned is how much time I could have saved myself over the last few years correcting white balances if I had only been using my Expodisc, particularly on tricky lighting situations.

Here is my first shot of the year. Reds can be a bear to get correctly and then throwing in off colored lighting and it can be a nightmare. This picture is straight out of the camera jpeg, no color editing, and on my calibrated monitor it is a dead match. The hours I could have saved myself over the last year. As a new years resolution, and for my 366, I will use the freaking Expodisc as much as I can to save myself as much work as I can.

One more thing I learned by reading the instructions, you can use the Expodisc as an incident light meter to dial in and nail your exposure right out the gate and it's cheaper than a light incident meter.

Went out for dog food and to pick up a new wired shutter release when I saw a number of ducks playing in the river. Wished I had a bit of light for some better color, but you take what you get.

And out of nowhere a Belted Kingfisher flew in. Didn't know we had these.

This hawk taunted me the other day. Each time I approached it moved and came back. Today, I got the bugger.

And a black and white. This is an old railroad box.

Nice start. I've got an expodisc and should probably use it more, particularly when shooting indoors. You've inspired me to at least figure out where I stashed it. LOL

Each shot on this thread so far has been using my Expo. A couple times I had to stop and get it, but I've kept myself disciplined and haven't had to adjust white balance.

Today was play with the toys on Wendy's @wthorson desk day and I don't feel bad. I work with Wendy and she has abandoned me with her little I can't breathe with my asthma and pneumonia excuse. When I was being drowned in the military we learned that breathing was optional and not necessary. Since Wendy will tell you she hasn't been through my training I guess I just have to accept she is not going to be at work with me. With this in mind I decided, fine, I will just play with the things on her desk.

Wendy's little suspended ball thing.

This is too funny. Apparently, when posting my image late last night for this thread, I posted SOMEWHERE. I'm not even sure where I posted it so now I will have to find it. LOL

Thank you Roy for pointing out that I have misplaced a photo and Don maybe I will be looking up the two teachers here in Utah to teach me how to read.
