Just figured I would create this thread to show off some of my work. Feel free to give feedback as I am rather new and learning everytime I pull the camera out.At this point I am still doing a little bit of everything. Mostly portraits though as that pays for the hobby... haha

I like how she is keeping her hands edgewise that is great...would like to see her shot from a low angle to make those legs longer...

Let's see some more man! :)

I have a couple more shoots scheduled with her and will keep that in mind. She's very short. Maybe 5'1"-5'2"?

Yes I could tell she was short...very short legs in proportion to her trunk...it is somewhat hard to pull off but if you shoot from the low angle it will make her legs look longer...classic type pose is sitting on a stool with legs stretched out in front and slightly spread...oblique one shoulder towards the camera...you have to use a wide angle to make her legs longer but you don't necessarily have to be close up...light it from the side and use the contrast to make it more mysterious or whatever...I think you have the contrasting light down pat BTW. Maybe a small top light to bring out the hair...she has great hair and her frigging eyes are just killer.

You might try fooling her by telling her you are ready to shoot, pretend to shoot, then when she is relaxed make the true snap...she seems to be sort of stiff.

OK I am going to quit being critical already...LOL

I'm Jeff BTW sir...I love portrait stuff...and I love women...any shape, size, color, pretty or ugly...I frigging love all of them period! :)

I love it that you are new and using a D3100 and making very decent snaps!

Wait until you see some of the stuff some of these folks on this board put out...just incredible stuff...seek out Ranie D....unbelievable work very similar to what you are doing here. Your's is a little bit more pin up style than his but that is all good.

Yup, some nice shots in there. Your lighting is pretty good. As Jeff suggested, I would use a hair light to bring out the highlights of her hair. I preferred your black and white shots the best.

Thanks! I actually just picked up a second flash so I am going to experiment with hair light. I am also in the process of converting a 24x24 garage into a studio to use. It has always just been used for storage so figured this would be more fun for sure... haha...

something a littl different with this one. I wanted silhouette but yet still wanted to be able to see some depth to it... I was happy with it, maybe not the route some would go but worked for what I had to work with and she absolutely loved it! Keep in mind this lady just turned 40 too
