Re: Dawg Pics' New Adventures of the D500 (and maybe the D300)

Best I could get shooting through my window. Most images were quite soft even after I cleaned the window and most just look out of focus. I was manually focusing, so I don't know what was with that. Need to set-up outside and see what happens.

Shooting through dirt = soft focus lens.

300mm lens with 1.4X extender on a tripod outside using manual focus. Subject is in the shadow, had to raise the ISO. So, it is what it is. Got my answer regarding the amount of softness in the images but not about the focus being off in some. So, further investigation is warranted. I am pretty sure it is me, just got to figure out how to fix it. I did everything I could to minimize camera shake, which was evident in the viewfinder even when using a cord and quiet shutter mode.

I present the (#3) Downy Woodpecker. (As always, please let me know if I am wrong.)

    More practice.
This was my best image, which wasn't all that good. Gave-up on the tripod due to instability, and now I need to test my lenses and AF. I am getting very few keepers even when I am manually focusing so something is off.

First decent image of a cardinal. He has trouble perching on these feeders, so I need to finish my platform feeder.
