Ironwoods Random Offerings 2017

I have decided to have a thread where I can post my random shots this year. I didn't do one last year, and found myself posting less often, but it did mean that I concentrated on my 52 a bit more.

I will try to do both this year :).

I just went for a walk in the vicinity of my house in between some rain showers.
All these shots were taken within a 50 meter radius of my house.

I have found the AF on my Tamron 150-600 playing up a bit lately, I missed a few opportunities because of it today.

Thanks Roy, he was having a good ol' laugh as I was walking up the hill towards him.
If you hear them call, you will know how they got their name, have a listen to the clip ( Not mine by the way, just a random one off tube )

Due to the Tammy reputation, I am a bit worried to say the least.
I actually put an advert in the local trader magazine last month to try and sell it, not one enquiry. And now it starts to play up .
Will have to check if its still in warranty.

Yeah, I was tossing up between the Nikon and the new Tamron G2, I think it will probably be the Nikon ( The old Tamron playing up now has thrown a spanner in the works, as a new one would depend on me selling the old one :( )

Maybe try and get it fixed under warranty before selling it? I have just had issues with sending mine back as the Tamron service provider never got back to me after a few emails. NIkon service is much better in Australia.

Yeah, I will probably try to get the ball rolling with warranty this week ( if its still in warranty, have to find the paperwork )

There is a repair shop in Cappalaba in Brisbane that is supposed to be pretty good if the warranty period is finished.

Let me know how you go, I might send my Tamron there for repairs and then sell mine too.

Its been too wet here to get out with the camera since New Years Day, we have had 425mm / 17 inches of rain this year. Things are getting a bit soggy to say the least. Its looking like it might fine up a bit tomorrow ( hopefully :) )

I got out in the garden between showers yesterday and got a few shots, the Jumping Spiders were out hunting.

I found a new Jumping Spider this afternoon in the garden, it was having a Cockroach meal.
One of the biggest I have yet seen , about 15mm long ( 5/8" ). When I find an ID for it I will add it here.

Another Spider from yesterday, I only had the chance to clean these ones up tonight.

This is a male Cosmophasis Bitaeniata, also known as a Green Tree Ant Cosmophasis, because it has evolved to have the same smell as the ants, enabling it to raid the ant nests of the lavae.
