Hi. Having had a Minolta 7000 forever (c1985!) my photography addictioned waned over the years, to be re-kindled when my wife bought me the Nikon D80 a few years back - pretty much when they were new. I loved it. My enthusiasm was fired and I went on a Nikon training course designed for the D80.
A few weeks ago I was given the D5100, again from my wife, as a birthday present. I'm still learning how to use it, but I'm inspired by this forum.
Why is it everybody posts so many flowers....

I won't be posting daily, but I'll try to post something weekly. I respect criticism, and will appreciate constructive comments!

Hmmmm, are you posting flowers? Seems like Pete has a flower garden from the gods and posts lots of flower pics (as well as some creepy spiders). Both Jen and Helene post lots of flowers as well. They make interesting subjects for playing with DOF.

Nice job with the shallow DOF on the first one. Like the color of the roses on the second one.

Ha ha
Thank you. Well after watering the garden I thought it best to get some photgraphic practice in!! I had a number of problems though....it was quite windy and only 5% of shots were stable enough to get a proper focus lock.
If I'm honest, I'd admit that for the Foxglove, I was playing with the D5100's scenes and let it choose the settings...so I'm quite pleased with the result.
