Don's D7100 Daily Dabblings - 2014

Well the D7100 should be here in a few hours so I thought I would go ahead and set up a new thread for it. Don't want to waste time tomorrow having to set this up.

Did I say that I was excited about the new camera?

I will be watching this thread with interest Don! My D7100 arrived on Monday, and I understand your excitement!
Due to work I haven't got outside in daylight with mine yet, so the dogs are sick of a lens being pointed at them all the time!

You'll love the D7100, I know I do!

It has arrived. Now waiting for the batteries to charge and also heading out to get two faster SD cards.

With Sandisk extreme pro i can get 3 FPS continuous until the cards fill up. 4 FPS for about 3ish seconds, 5 FPS only 7 shots until slowdown. This is much better than with the slower cards I was using when i first got the camera.

Bought two new SD Cards. SanDisk Extreme 32GB 80MB/s They were on sale at BestBuy.
Of course it is raining and grey and nasty outside. After going through and setting the basics I opened the back door and shot a few just to get a feeling for the camera. To begin with I set the First Card to RAW and the second card to JPG-Fine just to see the basics. Both shots had the same sharpening applied in Adobe RAW processing and nothing done in PhotoShop (or NIC) other than resizing to upload here and to add the frame and EXIF data to the photo frame.

I am in two minds about this thread:
Firstly I guess I was envious and thought I would have to dump you as a friend - I mean who goes and buys something that I probably want without clearance first? Huh?

but then ….

Like your Missus I too have small hands and you knew this right? So the D5100 is perfect for me so I clearly am not envious (yeah right!)

Still friends?

Congratulations!

It really couldn't happen to a nicer, more helpful guy.

I think even if she did not want to shoot one of my cameras I would still sell the D7000 and keep the D5100. It is a sweet little camera.
