I love the idea of the Project 365 but:
1. am too late for 2013! and
2. don't think I could do one a day consistently

so... I'll post, sporadically, some of my favourite photos I've taken and yet to take.

First up some classic Australian icons..

Nothing wrong with that... It does get tough sometimes to do "every" day :) Nice shots! Have a question, what is the 3rd animal?? Looks like a porcupine of sorts but not really like our Northern Woods porkys...

Thanks Pat. It's an echidna, quite like a porcupine/hedgehog but they lay eggs, and only found in Australia. That one was in a zoo but got within 10ft of a wild one, as you'll see later ;)

They are one of about 3 species of egg-laying mammals, the duckbill platypus is among those 3 species. I only know this because one of my students wanted to know if there were any other mammals that were egg-layers besides the platypus. It's amazing what students get you to learn. :)

You can't leave us hanging... what's the story?

Well I can't really remember what the story was! It was in middle school (11-14) so probably not very complex. All I really remember is the name!

Now I've failed to contribute and interesting story :apologetic:, here are three more pics from Oz

You are right. That is one bizarre looking turkey. It almost does not look real.

Thats one of our Aussie Bush Turkey's, protected by law these days, once sought after for the pot.
A few of the old timers that I know, still talk about eating them back in their day.
I suspect one old guy I know might still trap one occasionally.
