Alright...since I am way late to the party. (Having just found this site) And in an effort to start making more time to get out there and snap away.....I am creating a daily postings thread!

Also it looks like fun getting to watch myself grow with this hobby. So here we go!
(also on a side note...I am still a novice at LR4 and still figuring it out as well...:D)

ok...re edit. Seems my laptop is not the best for photo editing. (DUH)

It may be a little bright to some...but hopefully better.

Alright....just found something out. While the pictures look great on my laptop....well....lets just say they don't look that great when viewed on something other than my laptop. Which brings me to a plea for help. Since I can not calibrate my screen at this time...I will need some help. While the new idea I have is not perfect. (Mirroring off another screen in the house) I am able to get a better idea of what I am really doing.

While the image above looked great on my screen. It doesn't on my other devices.

While this image looks good...but a little washed out.

While I am not trying to get hardcore critique, I am just looking to see what these images look like to other people on their monitors. And which method I can use to edit untill I either get a desktop or a device to calibrate my screen.
Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the quick reply Marilynne. I was afraid it was still going to be off. But at least I am getting closer....

The first is to dark on my monitor and the second is a tad bright, not by much though.
Same here. I think something in between would be okay.

How do you have the brightness set on your laptop? I have found that if I set mine at about 50%, it works out the best on either laptop I use. If it looks to dark or too light, then I adjust the exposure.

Keep in mind that different computers will display color slightly differently. When I look at a photo side by side on my Macbook Pro, the color is a little warmer (tends towards the red/yellow) than on my Dell XPS 17 running Ubuntu Linux, which is always a little cooler (tends towards the blue). Yet, each is pleasing when I am not comparing them side by side. That's the one aspect of digital that was not as much of a problem with film/print. Every piece of equipment will render the color balance and intensity a little differently. With film/print, you can get consistent results because you have a consistent set of physical media and processing: film, chemicals, paper.

Also, everyone sees color a little differently.

As to seeing color correctly.....I have issues with that due to optical nerve damage. So sometimes colors can play tricks on me. But it doesn't stop me from having fun and trying.

And as of right now I know my laptop is dark and my other screen is a hair too bright. So now I am just finding a happy medium. For right now I am just aiming for close.

Thanks for the info piperbarb. I knew it varied but not by how much.

Nice shots Deezey! Can't wait for the flowers to come up around here!

I have a wildflower reserve a few minutes away from the house. All native species in a huge field. And you can roam from sun up till sun down. It is amazing in the Spring. And the birding is nice too!

These little guys seem to be the first bloomers for a lot of people around here.
