Regular photographers must use back door.

(I need to make a sign for that!!)

I don't have the ability to commit to a 365, and I don't feel like dumping my occasional stuff into other people's threads, so I'll use this to stick all my non-HDR stuff - and probably the occasional HDR image.

Here's a good start for a cat lover. I turned the corner down a back alley in a small town on the Delaware and this guy was staring at me. He was patient and comfortable enough to wait for me to stop, roll down the car window, and grab the camera off the floor behind the passenger seat. Reason #2139 why cats are better than dogs. ;)

So, while I'm posting, I was hoping to have my D800 as I drove past this old stone house that collapsed at some point in years past, but I made due with the D600.

First an HDR...

And now a bunch of single images. Figures, I drove past here last week and made a note to stop again (it was raining). Last week I had my 16-35 loaded up, this week the 24-85mm. Wish I'd had the ultrawide, but I can always go back, right?

(if I edit, it will mess up the formatting)

It was so eerie being in a stone structure that likely once housed a family for several generations. Stone fireplaces at both ends of a building that was about as wide as my family room (which also has a fireplace). No ghosts, just the idea of memories. Love places like this, and there are (far too) many in my neck of the woods.

Nice work Jake! Even though you had to slum it with the old D600 :)

Really like the perspective on the fourth one, the doorway next to the fireplace looks like a picture itself.

Thanks, Rick. BTW, that "doorway" is all of 4 1/2 feet high. It's the same doorway I'm shooting through from the opposite direction in the bottom image, which looks more like a window frame.

Great shots, Jake!

They give "load-bearing wall" a whole new meaning...LOL...while you are making signs, here's one: "Watch for falling rocks".

Thanks, Barbara. The weird thing is, it works better for me the larger it gets. If I don't click on the B&W to blow it up, it looks a little too busy.

I know what you mean. I think it is because you have so many different textures in the photo, but that is what I like about it. I love texture and patterning in B&W.

A cancelled conference call gave me an hour I didn't think I had today, so I set about to check out a place I'd driven past far too many times and never really noticed until last week...
