I really like this idea. I'm afraid a lot of times I will be taking a picture, just for the sake of taking a picture. But I am also hoping this will teach me to keep my camera handy more often, and to be more aware of my surroundings. Also I have horrible internet service so all my photos are compressed for easy upload.

These are all catch up photos. Half were not meant to be posted here. I promise they will be better now that I know they are going in here.

Day 8: On my way home from work. Also got a couple dramatic cloud photos I'll use sometime to replace a dull overcast sky.

I am completely failing at this challenge. I haven't been taking my camera with me everyday so all I get are phone pics. And most of the time I am hunting for something to take a picture of. Then it doesn't reflect me. Its a forced picture and I don't like it.

Seriously considering opting out of this.

I don't think you are failing, and I am sure there are others that think the same.

This forum gets *tons* of hits, every day. There are "lurkers" viewing yours and others pictures for all kinds of reasons. Maybe it cheers their day....perhaps they need examples of photos so that they can learn to take better ones....and on, and on. Who knows who has looked and and enjoyed your shots?

Not everyone that sees your images will respond. That does not mean that your vision of photography in your life, in this forum is a failure.

Every image can not be one to hang on the wall and compete with what you think are fabulous photos from all over the world.

Your images are a glimpse into your life, and can be simple photos of what you see every day. Doesn't have to be a "masterpiece". Photography is moment of life captured...with PP, of course, it may not really have existed, but it is *Your* vision of what you saw....and felt. That is what you share. It's personal. Cannot be held up to someone else's image and judged. It is yours alone.

Capture with whatever camera you have. So what? Get a piece of tape, and label your phone with "Nikon". (Naturally, you will have more fun with your 5100...awesome camera!)

I encourage you not to give up. Don't worry about "hunting" for something to take a picture of, take a picture of everything, anything, show us what you see. Sometimes the worst turns out to be the best.

And, I need to take my own advice! :tranquillity:

I agree with Carroll. I think the idea is to look for something, no matter how mundane it may be, and take a picture of it. Haven't we seen containers of screws, and all sorts of odd things? I think it is fun, and a challenge to find something. Today, for instance, I actually took a photo of a piece of home made corn bread. I was going to use that until I saw that Creature (one of my cats), started being weird because she saw the camera.

Don't give up. Not every photo will be an art photo. Some will be weird, boring, or generally odd. If necessary, take a photo of your foot (with or without socks) and play around with it. Also, don't worry that you are using your phone for your photos. There is no rule that you must use your Nikon for every shot.

Your missing the fun and turned it into a chore. A picture of a co-workers funny little green fuzzy with antenna's stuck on their desk, someone's M&M character collection or maybe a bag of M&M's spilled out on a desk. Find the cute that makes you chuckle. Then, when you have the time, use the real camera for doing the "artsy" stuff (repeating myself after this parenthesis) when you have the time.

Picture of the top of my computer desk hutch. Exciting? lol...no, of course not. But it's something no one else has ever seen. :) Let your imagination run wild......then take a picture of it! :)

That double exposure image looks like it has possibilities for something unusual. How did you do that?
