    Nikkor 50mm f/1.8
Tiny little lens, known in the UK as a 'pancake' lens. Lovely solid all metal construction, yet little over 200 grams. The very short physical length results in a poor 0.6 m closest focus....

    Review of Product: AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED
    1. Re: AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED

I remember this lens being supplied as a 'kit' option with a D70 I bought years ago -it never ceased to amaze me just how good such a 'kit' lens could be - the 18 - 70mm zoom is a crackingly good lens and it is no wonder that even now, its secondhand resale value is still quite high. Very sharp, contrasty, and colour rich, what more could you want in a wide to to portait format lens

My local camera store is selling the much older 18-70mm at $550NZ and the newer 18-105mm at $499. I use an 18-70 on my d7000 and it is really good. I've got four 18 - xxxx zooms and this seems to be the sharpest at 35/50mm. Good colour and contrast, too. Not sure if I'd pay $550 for it, though.
