Tiny little lens, known in the UK as a 'pancake' lens. Lovely solid all metal construction, yet little over 200 grams. The very short physical length results in a poor 0.6 m closest focus. Wonderfully sharp from f2.8. I used originally with my film Nikon FE2, through digital D700, D7000 and now D7100. The 7*** series of DSLRs allow full metering and auto (aperture priority) exposure when you dial in the lens' focal length and maximum aperture into the camera's 'Non CPU Lens Data Bank'. This allows full usage (manual focus, obviously) with apertures changed by clicking the lens' ring - like we all did in the good old days. The lens doesn't get used much these days as on DX which I currently use, I tend to use fast zoom or my D series Nikkor 50mm f1.4, which isn't any better optically but just more usable and with AF (albeit rather rudimentary by today's SWM standards). A nice lens to collect if you see a good example.
