      Key Features

      • The world’s first macro lens featuring Nikon’s exclusive Silent Wave Motor (SWM) and Vibration Reduction (VR) designed for close-up and macro photography; versatile for all photographic situations.
      • Nikon VR II (Vibration Reduction) Image Stabilization
      • Vibration Reduction, engineered specifically for each VR NIKKOR lens, enables handheld shooting at up to 4 shutter speeds slower than would otherwise be possible, assuring dramatically sharper still images and video capture.
      • Internal Focus (IF) provides fast and quiet auto focusing without changing the length of the lens, retaining subject working distance thorough the focus range.
      • Provides continuous focusing from infinity to life-size (1:1), offering extra working distance in demanding conditions.
      • High-resolution and high optical performance with Nano Crystal Coat and Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass elements enhances overall image quality by further reducing flare and chromatic aberrations, contributing to improved color, contrast and clarity.
      • Non-rotating front design is convenient for use with circular polarizing filters and the R1C1 Wireless Close-Up Speedlight System.

    Review of Product: AF-S VR Micro-NIKKOR 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED

      Thumbs up Re: AF-S VR Micro-NIKKOR 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED

I have had this lens for over a year and I love it.

I have taken some great (well I think so and they have done well in competitions) shots in macro mode, but have found it best using a proper screw based tripod mount. It gives very sharp and saturated images and I have not had any problems with colour fringing, aberration or vignetting.

I have also used this for portraits and landscapes and once again it is a great piece of glass giving pin sharp results with an excellent range of f stops.

Would recommend it to anyone. It is one of the lenses I carry at all times.

See my Gallery "The Flower" for an example of an image using tripod and macro screw mount.

      Re: AF-S VR Micro-NIKKOR 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED

I have just bought this lens after a bit of deliberation and I can say it will be spending a lot of time fixed to my D7000. The first images are outstanding and I will be adding some to my gallery soon.
I also read in reviews that the lens can be a little heavy for hand held use and carrying. I have to say I disagree with this!
If you are thinking macro, this is the one!

      good luck,
