Hi all,
I recently bought a Nikon D7500 kit with two lenses. I have since bought a Manfrotto tripod, backpack, filters, blaster, remote, etc.
So, I have been buying lots of equipment and have been experimenting with it all.
Boy, do I even have a lot to learn. I am hoping that the Nikonites will help me learn as I go along. I have watched many YouTube videos and printed out lots of information.
I know that I want other lenses, but am unsure what to buy next. I want to be able to take sunset photos, macro photos, and maybe even portraits. Sunset photos are the priority, so any suggestions would be appreciated.
The kit came with a AF-P DX NIKKOR 28-55mm f/3.5-5.6g VR lens and a AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED VR lens.

Hi and welcome to the forum - not that far behind you, just getting to grips with my new D7500 after upgrading from the D90. You sound very excited and eager to get your teeth into this fascinating hobby but I suggest you take it easy and give yourself time to get used to your new gear in general before specialising in any particular area of photography and going to the expense of buying additional lenses. Best regards and happy shooting :)

Welcome!

Did you come from film or have any photography experience. You want to shoot sunsets just put that 28-55 on, grab your tripod, pick your spot, hope for nice sun set and shoot. Utah you probably have some places with great views to shoot from. Shooting sunsets and sunrises (my favorite) can be a bit of a challenge conditions do not always favor you. Many times I come back without a decent photo of the sunrise. Persistence is a requirement. Save that first photo so you can look at it when you feel your not making any progress, photography is as they say a journey. Looking forward to seeing some of your photos.

I have used film in the past and have an older Nikon P510 digital camera.
Many of what I have bought was recommended by a friend that takes some awesome photos. I am holding off on buying anything more until I get more experience. Thanks for the suggestion of just using the 28-55mm and my tripod. That is my plan and we live on the southern corner of Utah, off of I-15, and almost in Arizona. We do indeed get some beautiful sunsets.
Thanks again.

Good to see you, welcome! I'm pretty recent to DSLR's also, and have found this group to be very helpful and supportive. I'm sure you will too. All the best, and looking forward to seeing some of your work!

Welcome to the forum. It is always good to get to know your camera and it is really handy having a friend with experience to mentor you. Hope you enjoy the D7500.

One thing that I do and have done with all my cameras is buy a supplemental handbook. I like the way David Busch walks you through the camera and recommends setting it up. He really covers everything and has some good explanations. I still go to it if I am trying something new or if I have forgotten something. It is just handy. Below is a link.

Welcome aboard!!! Hope you enjoy the group and learn a lot.
As several have said this is not a one minute pill and you go out taking pictures. I have only seen that in Matrix.
Patience and persistence...
One thing is a pro in digital... You may take thousands of photos without spending too much.
Good journey!!!
