    Yongnuo anyone?

I just received the 50mm F1.8 lens I ordered a while ago. This is my first prime lens so I am uncertain how to grade it, but wanted to know of others who experimented with this manufacturer.

I did read a lot online about it, and some say it is slow to focus (seems quick to me) and sharp (I will experiment more before saying anything but so far I tend to agree)

What is it to check when using a prime lens?

I'll post pics when I get more time to shoot with it.

    Sure will.

It's my first prime and gets me pretty thrilled. Time is a bit tight lately but I started to experiment.
I like the aperture it brings me.

For sharpness I took a shot at a keurig pod at a distance and once you zoom in the picture, the tiny characters are legible. Not sure how else to test it.

Taking portraits is fun with the fixed lens, you can't toy with zoom so composition is different to achieve. The blurry background is like magic.

But having played with it only about an hour so far, that's as far as I can tell.

Plus, as I said, it's my first prime and my first non kit lens. I am unsure how to tell more.

If you post some images and have a way for people to look at the RAW images, they can see if there are any issues.
I don't really know how to test lenses either, but I know which ones in my kit that I prefer based on real world results.

Here are two shots. Is there a way to attach raw files in the nef format?

The keurig pod's tiny character are legible on a non resized version on this picture.

If I can I'll post nef files

For NEF files, you will have to share a link to Dropbox or some other site where you have them placed. They cannot be placed in here on the forum. Size is prohibitive.

I've read a few articles on testing lens and figured out I should test closed up and distant focus, on objects of every quadrant, not only the center.

Come to think of it, that makes a lot of sense.

So, I'm due for another round of testing.

Many members list their gear in their signatures. Only the camera bodies will show up on the left under our avatars. The lenses don't.
