I just got my first FX body. I am not sure if people have already posted this topic but I will be uploading photos of my DX lenses (resized without any vignette and distortion correction) on an D700 FX body for you to see. You may have DX lenses and and are thinking of jumping to FX.
First my 35mm 1.8G DX:
Next my AF-s 17-55mm 2.8 at 28mm (shooting at a shorter f makes the vignetting unbearable):
So as you can see it is not terrible unless you took a high-key or well lit subject. In a D700, shooting in DX mode reduces the viewing area effectively cropping it into a 5mp image. If I shoot in FX mode with a DX lens, I can crop it to 4x5 and retain up to 10mp. The vignette control feature on the D700 is powerless against the mechanical vignetting of these lenses.
It is also note-worthy that the focal lenses of DX lenses are retained so the 35mm DX will be a 35mm on FX.
