Masking in Lightroom

I'm pretty excited about it. Selecting and deselecting parts of an image for adjustment is where I spend the most time in the entire process from clicking the shutter to printing the finished image.

I use Camera RAW instead of Lightroom but am assuming the feature will be available there, too. It will be a great addition to the program!

Thanks for posting this, Cindy. This will be a big time saver. Next, I hope they can get Lightroom's noise and sharpening tools on par with Topaz. It's good to see that Adobe is going ahead full steam with Lightroom.

Yes...it'll be across their platform. They're pulling out and changing an entire module to accommodate this. This is the entry point for Adobe to transition and add content replacement in future iterations. Once you've isolated the masking to a controllable function, the next step then simply becomes, content replacement... Replacing skies or removing objects becomes easy.

Glad to see Adobe responding to all the recent editor's with all their AI and replacement features...

Please I don't want to start a flame war on the artistic merits of image alterations into something that never existed... but in many cases, it's nice to have the ability to make these types of changes.

If Adobe could come up with something comparable to Topaz, that WOULD be amazing!

Good to hear how they are accomplishing this, Fred. I've heard rumors that Adobe was going to stop Lightroom, but obviously not.

This looks so much easier than photoshop :encouragement:

That's what I thought, too!

I guess we'll see how well Facebook selects subjects, sky, etc. If it takes a Buch of time to refine things, it might not be any easier. Regardless, it will be nice to have this right in Lightroom.

Matt Kloskowski weighs in although he admits he only has the Adobe Blog to pull info.
