DxO Labs Files for Bankruptcy

It appears DxO Labs, owner of DxO PhotoLab and buyer of NIK Tools, is in serious financial straits... Hard to tell exactly how bad it is or what the exact outcome will be at this point, but it's not looking good.

DxO Labs Insolvent in Bankruptcy Proceedings

Should DxO be forced to liquidate, and given their known acquisition strategy for growth, I could see Adobe scooping up DxO Labs assets and subsequently implementing UPoint Technology (aka "Control Points") into Camera Raw, Photoshop and/or Lightroom.

This definitely doesn't bode well for the NiK suite. As for Adobe and Control Points... wouldn't hold my breath. IF Abobe where to buy them out I don't see the UPoint tech playing in Ps simply because I can't see how they would integrate that with the layer masking that it's so reliant upon. I suppose they could use it as a way of apply masks selectively (much as you'd do today using luminosity or color masking), but I think it's more likely to be added to the Gradient and Radial tools in Camera Raw/Lr where they've already made strides in adding limiters to those tools (color and luminosity masks).

The part that filed bankruptcy is the side company that makes the DXO 1 camera not the DXO Mark or software part of the company.
