Geotagging Images

So it's coming up for renewal of Adobe CC. The price has gone up 20% in the UK, I'm fed up with the buggy Map mode, dislike the LR UI generally and rarely use PS these days.

So I started looking around for alternatives that might work out cheaper long term but which also allowed geotagging of images which is a must have for me.

I thought I had a solution using a combination of FastStone Image Viewer, iMatch and Serif Affinity Photo supplemented by XYPlorer and FastPictureViewer Codecs. However, I can't find a way of transferring the geo data in my images from LR to another program. I don't know where LR stores geo data. It doesn't seem to be in the .xmp sidecar file. When I export from RAW to DNG the geo data disappears.

Does anyone have a solution, workflow or suggestions for an Adobe CC alternative that both picks up the geodata in images already processed in LR and makes it easy to add it to new images?

I suspect I'm wanting something that doesn't exist but don't ask, don't get!

There are several videos that show how to sync geodata across multiple images in LR when a camera doesn't have built in GPS data... Have you explored those processes?

My computers that are running ON1 Raw are down at the present time and I have to admit that I have never Geotagged any photos, but I think that ON1 Raw has the capabilities to see the Geotags. You can download a 30 day trial if I remember correctly and see if it will recognize them. I remember seeing in a tutorial a button that pops up if a photo is geotagged that you can click on and it will take you to the map to see the location (This is all from a very fuzzy memory. Ha!)

That's pretty much what I do currently using GeoTag Photos Pro 1 on my phone to create a GPX file for use in LR. The objective however is to move away from Adobe to other products that also allow relatively easy geotagging but which don't break the bank. I just can't find any!

That's an interesting suggestion. There's an offer on currently too: $99 + the next version free + some other 'freebies'. Thanks! I've downloaded and installed the trial which I'll be playing with very soon as the offer expires 30th September.

I know Paintshop Pro X9 (and maybe the newer versions) allow you to edit the location manually.

Thanks for that. I haven't looked at PaintShop Pro for years but I'll try the demo. I'm constantly searching for a way to leave Adobe but they keep adding features I like. The new 'intelligent' Auto mode in LR saves me a lot of time.
