Need Suggestions for Offline PP Software

I am giving up my internet connection at home, so I need suggestions on processing software that I could buy, rather than have a online subscription.

Suggestions?

It will be a PIA, being dark, but I want to give it a try. Rates keep going up, and there are only two players in town, Xfinity and AT&T. Neither company inspires me on a personal level. I won't even talk about professional.
I miss the days of dial-up when any Joe could set up a provider company in a small office somewhere.

The ones that I have used have been free or minimal in cost. GIMP, Nikon Capture DX-D and View NX-I. Raw Therapee is another free one for processing RAW files, but has a pretty steep learning curve IMHO. Photoshop Elements works well too, especially with NIK tools.

My primary is Corel's Aftershot (like Lightroom) RAW converter, RAW Photo Editing Software - Corel AfterShot Pro 3 - Formerly Bibble
and Paintshop Pro Photo & Picture Editing Software - Corel Paint Shop Pro X9

I know you can buy it on CD from Corel and have it mailed to you. I also see it on some store shelves (although on line purchase is probably best).

I also use Zoner18 - sadly they too have gone to the rent your software model and charge by the year.

They do have a free version and it is free for life. That is the one I have been suggesting to the people in my camera club to start with.

Do any of these, free or not, have a tool close to the Healing Tool on PS CC? That is amazing!

Capture One Pro has this feature. That being said, I'm not convinced all Healing Brushes are created equal. This touches on one of the larger issues of why I'm an Adobe user: other applications, even if they do what PS does, they don't do those things as *well* as Photoshop. Just my opinion, of course.

Another suggestion, and a much cheaper one, would be Affinity Pro. Once a Mac-only product, Affinity is now available for Windows-based computers. I've not used it extensively but it's definitely worth looking into to see if it meets your needs.

Yes, I guess I should mention that I am Windows based.

When I get home tonight, I expect my internet connection to be off.
I wonder if Windows 10 will be able to run without an umbilical cord to mommy?

Windows 10 does not need a connection to run but it would like to in order to update on occasions

Newer versions of Elements does and is easier to use, but GIMP has one too. It is just a little more difficult to use. Elements costs some money and GIMP is free
