Sharpening?

I am a long time photog changing workflow as NX2 is no longer usable.

I have been spending time in LR and I am very comfortable in PS - but compared to NX2, always felt out of place with the Adobe sharpening tools.

I'm looking for more advanced and localized sharpening.

Are you guys using LR/PS for ALL your sharpening or just the basic and use something else for FINAL sharpening?

Or do you use something else altogether?

I use Unsharp Mask, or a High Pass Filter, both in Photoshop.

I've also started learning some of the Topaz software lately and like it a lot; comes with a learning curve, though.

The closest thing you'll find to what you've been used to is the Nik Tools have 2 Sharpeners... The Sharpener Pro 3 lets you do selected sharpening via its Control Points...

I use Gimp (basically a freeware version of PS). It's easy to select an area you want sharpened and then use the Unsharp Tool (adjustable) to sharpen.

Thanks for all the comments - I have Nik and I am used to it - I wa snot sure there was a standalone tool that might do a better job.
