Photoshop CC, Yes or No?

I have PS Elements 13 and LR 6 and am familiar with both, more so with LR which is my go to software. I am trying to decide whether to bite the bullet and subscribe to PS CC for a year initially but I'm concerned about the degree of difficulty in learning how to use it. I struggled for a long time to master both PSE and LR both of which are much simpler than PS.

My question is, are there enough similarities to either of the other programs to get me started with PS in a relatively short time period or is it a whole new adventure?

Mac or PC .. PS is exactly the same.

dive in .. There are lots of YouTube and Adobe tutorials.
its not as user friendly as Lr but it's well worth the learning curve.

Here are my two bits. I was using Photoshop CS3 on my 24" iMac until my iMac decide to explode last year. Then I Frankensteined together a computer with bits I had, bits a friend gave me, and a few bits I bought to make it all good. The big issue....I ended up swapping back from Mac OS to Windows OS, and had no more Photoshop. So I jumped on the Photoshop CC Photography package. $10.79 a month (total, with tax) gets me Photoshop CC and Lightroom CC.

From Mac to PC, it's the same. And from older versions of PS to Newer, it's relatively the same. There are just EXTRA goodies to use on top of the OLD goodies you already know. I say, jump on the CC bandwagon and enjoy it. Suddenly having access to new features and options was VERY nice. The new "Dehaze" tool in raw editing is killer for recovering details that are there, but 'seem' to be missing from your photo at first glance.

I wish you guys wouldn't prevaricate with your advice!;) OK, OK I've downloaded the trial version which give me a free month. Hopefully at the end of that period I will be as happy as y'all.

THEN... (c'mon guys, you knew I wouldn't just leave it there) there are a TON of online resources to teach you the nuances of PS tools, including quite a few wonderful tidbits in a thread from @BackdoorHippie in our tutorials area. You'll LOVE PS once you get a few of the tricks under your belt, and the healing tool is SOOOOO much better than the spot-heal in LR as well!

I was a user and owner of PS CS6 which was the newest version and am pretty food with it. I upgraded to CC to get Lightroom since I needed it for the cataloging capabilities but getting all the updates and new features in both that the standalone versions are not getting is worth the price.

Well, I'm sold. Here's my first tentative effort. On edit, I'm not sure why the exif data isn't showing though.

You can become a PS expert by watching YouTube. There are some really great vids out there from guys like Moose Peterson, Phlearn, SLR Lounge, Serge Remelli, Calvin Hollywood etc. They may not shoot what you shoot, but you can transcribe those PS skills to any image.

Hard to know, but make sure you doing an export and not something from any 'share' commands.

BTW, just something to look at... IMHO, ACR (and any other software I've used for that matter), does not do as good a job at rendering .nef files as Capture NX. And now that Capture NX-D is free (better late than never Nikon), there is no excuse for not comparing the two and making that determination for yourself.

Well ime still thinking about it,watched some videos on both,LR looks to be of very little interest to me,i dont want its cataloging system,i dont batch process,i like photoshop elements and the extra power of the full program i think would make my editing easier so i may go for it just for that.

I don't know how much you guys spend each month out there in Great Britain on toilet paper, tomatoes and shampoo, but I bet it's more than what LR and PS CC costs each month.
I would say go for the trial at least. LR may run better on your rig than mine. I dunno!:indecisiveness:

Its the first time for a lot of years i have had a serious look at the full photo shop and i must admit i am seeing tools that would make my PP a lot easier.

At our age, anything that make PP easier is a God sent.
