Teething problems with RAW files

Hi all,

I have been using lightroom 3.6 and photoshop CS5 64bit for quite some time.
Trouble is now I have moved form canon to a D810 neither programs will read the RAW files?
I have tried updating lightroom and it says it is up to date.
Do I need a newer version of lightroom? I prefer lightroom to photoshop so would like to get that running with the Nikon fiirst.

Thanks

In short, yes... You need updated versions to handle the RAW files of the D810.

While the version of LR you *have* is up to date, it's not the most current version. You can get LR version 6.x as a standalone app for about $140 or you can go with Adobe's Creative Cloud, Photography Bundle for $10 a month which allows you to install LR and PS both.

I was looking at the Adobe photography bundle but I don't like the ongoing cost idea, I'm not a pro.

Will CS6 and lightroom 6.x both handle the D810 RAW files? If so I might get second hand copies, they seem to be selling for next to nothing since Adobe went cloud based.

LR 6.x will have D810 RAW support. I believe anything after 5.7 will, actually.

As for CS/PS, what's critical is the Adobe Camera RAW version; you'll need v8.7 or better, for D810 RAW support. I'm pretty sure CS6 would cover you, but do further research; I'm not 100% about that.

May I ask where you are seeing these second hand copies for sale? Paul

I was looking on Ebay but taking a second look the legit versions are quite expensive compared to the cloud option considering you get LR and PS and the cheap copies are cracked versions by the look of it.
