Here is an attempt at resizing at 1000 pixels long edge.

Okay, that's looking about like what I would expect. They're the same size as what you see in my 365 thread and the EXIF data is appearing when I hover...

You want to go larger?
.....

I thought yours were larger than that? If not, it's alright. If it's what you imagined, it's ok. I just thought your mining shot was larger. If not, my mistake. Thanks!

Chris......by the way, CAN you go larger?

Not sure what y'all are trying to sort out, but gonna butt in anyway. I've simply started cropping my pics to an 8x10 format (4x5, 2x2.5, however else ya wanna label it), and I get great display on the forums. I just upload the jpeg and let the forum do the work. Comparing the two at work, standard 17" LCD, they look comparable in size, so can I ask what you're going for just for my own curiosity?

I checked my 365 thread and yeah, image sizes match.

Further, I think you CAN go larger (not sure actually) but if you do, I think you lose EXIF data on hover. Let's find out! I'm going to resize this one to 1200 on the long edge and use "Full Size" from the formatting dialog box...

On your 365 'The Light At The End of The Mining Tunnel', your image is quite a bit larger....is that because you made the 'short edge' larger? Just wondering!

Sure.....just saw Fish's picture that I mentioned on his 365 and it is quite a bit LONGER than my normal images. Trying to find out how to resize like that.

Okay that image appears to me to be 1000 px on the long edge even though I sized the pic to 1200 px and used "Full Size" in the formatting dialog box. Also, the EXIF display is screwy.

I think we have our answer.

We were just discussing posting photos on the forum and getting them to post as large as possible... Well, that and you, of course. We're always talking about you... Duh.

Is it? *scratches head*

Let me go look...

Edit: Huh... It does look bigger than 1000 px but that's my standard operating procedure for posting here... 1000 px on the long edge. I'm not sure why that particular shot looks longer.

I think the width of the forum posts limit how wide an image can appear, however a post can be QUITE long, so there aren't any limitations there. Larger monitors and how they handle all those pixels will change the width a bit too, of course.

Example: Post an image and set it to display "Large" and you can still click it, and on most monitors, see an even larger image. Set it to "full size" though, and you can't click it. It's displaying as large as it can within the limits of the forum/thread width...

Maybe? Could be? It could happen...

If it helps, I always export at 1000px on the long side and when I upload I choose Large Size, not Full Size. When the right-side bar is displayed this means that the Full Size image will be auto-reduced so that it can display in the box. This is the same thing as the Large Size, but with Large you can click on it and get it to display in full glory.
