Help un-tinting a window

Hi all. I need help with the small project where I need to undo the tint on some glass of a shop window so that the viewer can more clearly see inside but I have no idea on where to start or how to do this. I've been told that I should use the dodge tool but I'm unsure the best way to do that with a window and reflections. I know there are videos online of an tinting a car window which is similar (but exactly opposite of what I'm attempting), but I haven't been able to find one that is the reverse of this. Can anyone tell me how to do this, increase the opacity of the window while still retaining the reflections and details?
Thanks!

You've been watching too much television. You're not going to magically see what was originally on the other side of the glass. Stuff like that only happens in the movies and on police dramas.

Crop to the window, then adjust the red/green/blue levels to cover the entire histogram. Like 480sparky said, though, I'm betting you will just get a blank image. Light doesn't work that way. If you were inside shooting outside (where it was lighter), it would work - but not going from bright to dark.

Hm, alright. What if the objects inside the establishment were unimportant, could it still be done?

It depends entirely on the detail that is in the image. No detail now will have no detail later. But not knowing exactly what you are dealing with, we are only guessing at what you have and what you want.

So, a photo or even a crop of part if you don't want or can't post the entire image would be very good.

If the inside is unimportant, you could always take something out of another shot and blend that into the window. Without a shot to check, I can't say how hard/easy that'll be.

That might have been valid advice some years ago, but with Chrysler having been sold to Fiat, and General Motors having been taken over and corrupted by the government, there remain only two brands in this category that are still suitable for such use by any real American. I suggest that you try using either a Ford tool, or if your budget will handle it and you want to get that fancy, you might try a Lincoln tool.

What you could do is in Photoshop, make a mask layer of the window and then use the "Camera Raw" filter on that window to increase clarity, contrast, sharpness and color temperature and saturation until you find the best compromise. Because compromise is the best you'll get. You won't be able to see what your eyes couldn't. Maybe you could post this picture here and we all could give it a trial...

I ended up being able to duplicate the layer and add the mask. I then applied a curve to the master channel. Looks excellent. Hope this helps someone else trying to do something similar.

How about sharing with us the before and after pictures? It would be nice to see what you did and, if we'd had an example of the picture you were talking about, we might have been able to help you even more.
Don't forget this is a forum, a place to share, so don't be afraid to do just that.

I've since deleted the photos, but I'll post a few and run through the steps again and update it tomorrow at some point. It's completely possible. 480sparky obviously doesn't understand my television habits.
