"Professional" family photos. LOL!

This is too funny. Especially where the family says they have not been given a refund and the photographer stands by their work. However, credit to the family as they said they don't want ill will toward the "pro" photographer.

Update: Did some searching and it looks like, I suspect, there will be a huge lawsuit coming up. It would appear that the person credited as doing the photos is real, is a professional, and has been doing damage control stating those are not my photos (what's been done to them).

I went to the original poster's facebook page, when it was shared to my timeline. One of the images has the photographer's name on it, and there is a business by that name, but not actual website like you would expect from a pro.
I thought it was a joke at first but not after looking at the original posts about it.

I can't read all the comments. I am not sure what any of this has to do with politics. If the comments were funny or clever, that would be one thing, but they are just not.

My photoshop skills are nil, but even I would not have sent that stuff to a client.

Yes, I have sugarcoated my response.

What are the damages and on what grounds?
Defamation?

I am not trying to turn the thread into a debate or anything. I think the images are hilarious.

It's all good discussing this, we're all in a friendly environment. I do agree, on it's face (pun intended) this is all funny until I did some research. I was able to trace back the credit on the photos. It is a real person with a real photography business. Since this has all happened she and her business has been trashed on social media. Social media can make or break you. I have a large following due to my photography and it generates a lot of business for me from my work being seen. Now imagine, someone takes one of my photos and butchers it like this family did and puts it out there as MY work. The same way business is generated from my work on social media is the same way it could all dry up and my reputation destroyed. The photographer is having to make efforts to try and put out this viral spreading of "her" work. Lost business hours, damage to her reputation as a photographer, and lost work would all be things I can see her going after because it is her livelihood from what I could tell.

For the sake of argument, lets say you were a dawg groomer, and at home I butchered your work because I thought it needed improvement and shared the terrible results as yours. The dog might look funny, but when no one is calling your grooming service anymore because of "your" terrible work you deserve restitution because my lie took money out of your pocket.

I agree with that, but where is the claim that the photographer wasn't the one who did this? I also looked up the photographer but didn't see an actual website.
I would like to see where the photographer claims she didn't do this, I would also like to see the actual files.

On the face, it looks like a joke, but I haven't seen anything to refute it. If the family doctored the images, then shame on them, but they reaffirmed they did not. If the photographer is just that incompetent then she should refund the money and take a photo editing course. Of course, who in their right mind would look at those images and think it is ok? The photographer got what it is a viral bad review, and there isn't a thing that is going to protect her from that.

If the family feels for the photographer like they say, then they should have removed the name from the images.

I dunno. I would like to think we have all been had by the best practical joke ever.

If it wasn't, it certainly is now. There are a bunch of satire FaceBook pages that have been created. People actually think they are on a real page.

When I did the search earlier, it was a website BoredPanda that actually tracked down the photographer and her other work. In the end, this will turn out to be a big hoax or someone is getting majorly sued.

Can you provide a link? I haven't found anything with regards to any media contacting the original photographer, comments from her or any other work prior to this. I looked at the BoredPanda website. There is nothing in the article I read that isn't on the Facebook page of the family that posted the images.

This is a cautionary tale. Anything you put on the internet can get shared over and over and will be subjected to mob-mentality. I have seen some pretty nasty comments. If the family isn't angry then why should anybody else be? Oh well, we will see how it plays out. I have no idea if it is true or not. I am hoping it is a hoax because that would be awesome.

Speaking of bad edits. I sent a pretty bad image to my brother who loved it and posted it on his Facebook page. I need to edit it again. It has a huge green blob of lens flare in it. I sent another one to him where I had to clone over a few faded facial features. Ha Ha. I was tired. Hopefully, it won't go viral. It isn't even close to good work, but I thought he would get a kick out of it, and he did. I told him they were pretty bad, but he didn't care.

Unfortunately I can't right now. I don't search the web on this computer. Tomorrow day I will look and see if I can find it again.

Smart. I always wanted a computer just for work that doesn't touch the net and its nasty viri and malware.

Googling "lesa hall photography" will get you thousands of hits regarding this, including links to the fake FB account, and what is presumably her Linked-In page.

I'm not really sure what to make of the whole thing... It's just bizarre.

What is funny, is the people who think they are actually on a real FB page. It is hilarious.
