My cousin recently had their first baby, and I had the great privilege of doing my first newborn shoot with them. I did as much planning and prep work as I could beforehand, but nothing can actually prepare you for what really goes on. Spent north of 4 hours in their home with the heat cranked up to keep the baby warm and us sweating. We worked closely to her feeding schedule to help make sure she slept well ... yeah right. 15 minutes total out of four hours is about all the good sleeping we managed out of her. LoL. Even with all of the wriggling and wrestling and attempts as getting her back to sleep, I think I managed to pull off a few decent shots. Learned a ton today, but nothing more important than the huge respect I have for the full time newborn shooters out there. I look forward to doing this again for sure, but I do hope the challenges lessen next time around.
