Took some family pics during Thanksgiving. Give me your thoughts, etc.

Nice photos, the images do appear a bit soft though. Most likely due to the lack of DOF. I would have shot at f/5.6 or even maybe higher.

Agree with Scott!. Looking at your lens arsenal in your signature I would have used the 18-105 at a 105mm f/5.6 and gotten a little tighter shot.
This would have given you a sharper shot across all of your subjects and still produce a nice OOF background.

Thanks for all the feedback. Yes I generally would use the 18-105, but wanted to try it with the 50 to see how the bokeh would be. I'm in debate stage trying to figure out if I want to get a new lens (85mm 1.8, or tamron 70-200) or go with a new camera (d7200). I've got some Amazon giftcards burning a hole in my pocket.

I'm seeing a bit of blown highlights, so I'd suggest backing down the highlights in post.
Came in to say the say this, pretty much.

I was thinking some of those faces look a little "hot" but using flash well is an area I really need to work on...

If you mean the Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 Di VC USD then I will tell that lens is nothing short of amaaaaazing.
