Hi guys, we sometimes need do some edits of photos, especially wedding photos for customers. But my wedding photographer friend found it takes much time to retouch wedding photos. I just wonder what troubles you most when touching up the wedding photos for customers? The same problem or any other troubles?

Get the basics right in camera and the editing is easy...
Things you would need to be aware of that I've seen in wedding photos
Don't over expose the dresses and suits..People spend big dollars on dresses and like to see the detail in them...
If the white balance is off the dresses can have a blue tinge to them..
A friend of my son received his wedding photos and ALL subjects were tilted...
Don't have posts and things coming out of heads..I'm sure there are other not to do things...

Certainly you would want to touch up any acne or blemishes on your subjects as well as brighten their teeth and remove wayward hair. Other than that, I wouldn't touch it up too much.

One thing I've found with editing wedding photos is it's all about finding that balance. You want your whites to be clean so WB needs to be spot on, You want to photo to pop so contrast needs to be good, but not too high; make sure you aren't blowing out highlights or blocking up shadow detail. Skin tones need to be soft and flattering, but not fake, and sharpness needs to be there to highlight detail in the dress and whatnot, but not be too much as to take away from the viewing experience. I try to avoid things like using vignettes a lot. Color accuracy is also important. Having said that, after going through the weddings I shot before going to MIAD, HOLY cow do they need some reworking! Hahah, self teaching moment.

just make sure you underexpose about 1/2 stop and adjust afterwards in lightroom.
As for removing wayward hair or brighten teeth ..are you joking ??? To do that on 1000 shots dont be silly...we just brighten and crop in lightroom and dont find any problems with white balance. you will be telling me next you shoot in RAW ..the time to download and process and then change to JPEG is totally silly.....

thats fine dave but ive done 40 weddings this year and have 25 booked for next already ...on my site are 15000 wedding pictures and the weddings range from poorer inner city weddings to qualitly country weddings

You don't have to convince me. I don't have a problem with thorough PP, it's all part of the equation, but hey, if they're happy with it and the checks don't bounce, then I say - party on, Wayne!
