I've noticed how many photos on this forum, have the photo information available to view, when my mouse cursor passes over the lower left corner of the image. Can someone tell me how that is done or where to learn how to do that? I would appreciate the help.

My EXIF information also doesn’t show after I resize my image to upload. I think it may depend on how you resize the file.

I was told it needs to be around 1034 pix to upload and include the data, as soon as your file is bigger, it will drop the data to be able to upload your file. Not sure if Ive got the pix nr right, but seems like it works for me.

For your Exif data to show.

* It has to be included with your image. Some programs remove this data on export or resize. Most image viewers will show the exif under properties so you can check before upload. The export options may need to be changed.
* It seems this site also seem to strip the data unless the basic uploader is used.

@Marilynne 's post below is the recommended output.

Welcome!

Guidelines to adding a photo to your post.

1. Resize photo to 1000px on the long side.
2. Resolution set to 72ppi (Pixels Per Inch)

These guidelines will be good for viewing on a computer but will not be good for printing. This will help safeguard your copyright.

The output PPI may not be an option on your program.

@PLM

Did you upload your landscape photo to the gallery first? Try using the insert image option and upload directly through the thread, it appears all the data is with the image but not showing.

EXIF from the gallery stopped showing up about a year or so ago. It was there one day and gone the next.

Also, remember, if you add your photo, you have to refresh the screen before the EXIF shows if using Insert Image option.

Plus if you are sharing your images via Flickr, only one of their size options allows the EXIF to show up here. Since I haven't used Flickr in years, I can't remember which size works that way.

I used the gallery to upload that picture. I tried from the image button but couldn't figure out the URL. I'm still trying to sort this out. I seems like a very beneficial feature when looking at the photos on this site.

Are the photos on your drive or on a hosting site. On this site you can up load directly from your HDD.

Needa,

They are on my hard drive. When I try to upload using the icon (insert image) and choose (from my computer) and (choose file), I choose the file I want to use and it shows that file to the right of the choose file box, but the rest of the (save, go advanced, delete, and cancel buttons remain greyed out.) I'm left with just the file box with an x in the upper right hand corner. I must be doing something wrong.

After selecting the insert image button this screen should appear. Be sure the from computer tab is selected.

Click the browse button then open the directorory containing the photo.
Then click on the words "Upload File".

Thank you, I've got it now. One more question. When I look at the photo in preview before actually posting it, should I be able to see the image information at the bottom left corner of photo or does it actually have to post first?

It needs to post, then you need to refresh the page to see the data.
