    Question D5100 Help needed

    My son has a D5100, when taking photo's in A or S mode the photos are Black..
    In P and Auto they are perfect .
    any ideas on whats causing this ?

    My first thought is user error due to the auto modes being correct,i would like to know the Exif details for one of the black images, perhaps if he googles the exposure triangle.

    I have to agree with Mike. It sounds like he's not getting his exposure settings correct in those semi-manual modes. When he flips to full auto or P, the camera gets it right. Do check that exif data and see what you think.

    You both were right. Plus I'm an ass for not checking it out first.. His A & S setting were wrong.. He wasn't setting them correctly. Thanks again

    We have experienced people on here who have a problem and turns out is was jut a setting they forgot to change back. Happens to everybody.
    Get him to join us here on the forum. We are kid-friendly.
