Bracketing question

So... Was out today and decided to try some bracketing. I have a D7200, Think I set it up right on the camera. According to the top screen it was setup to take 5 photos at 2 exposure stops difference. But the camera only took one photo. Does it not work with Raw files? Or is it useless with raw files?

You can press the shutter several times. Alternatively, most folks change their top left dial from Single shot to Cl or Ch for multiple shots. You may also need to change the B3 menu option to allow enough shots in Cl/Ch mode.

S = single shot
Cl = Continuous Low
Ch = Continuous High

There are a couple different ways you can do it. This video shows both:

  • You can use the Timer and it will run through taking the images with only one press of the shutter (or a cable release). This is how I did it the first time I tried bracketing.
  • Towards the end of this video, he switches the camera to Continuous and holds down the shutter button. When it's done that way, the camera will stop shooting at the end of the bracketed images.

Once, I was taking some 3 shot brackets of the sunrise before doing some birding. I forgot to turn off bracketing and the rest of my days shoot came out quite badly! I think this was back in my D7000 days. I don't think this would even be an issue with my D500 as changing the exposure afterward doesn't seem to negatively effect the files.
