Anyone here using Tamron 18-400mm F/3.5-6.3 DI-II VC HLD All-In-One Zoom ?

I'm thinking of getting this, any thoughts. Something to carry while hiking or traveling. I have my Nikon 55-200 but then once in a while I miss more zoom when I need it.

I've had mine since August last year. Mine is mounted on my D7100. I use it as my walk about lens for extra reach and fits nicely in a Nikon bag on my bike rack.

Thanks for ur inputs. I'm not looking for something extraordinary. I'm just hobbyist, and need something that will help me in that zoom range. As long as it is acceptably sharp I'm ok with it. If not do you have any other recommendations ?

I don't think the Tamwrong comment helps anyone, from what i have seen its a good mid range IQ lens, if the light is good it could perhaps be even better, not knowing just what you want from a lens its difficult to answer but if i was you i would do some more checking with reviews, it may fit the bill for you.

I don't have experience with the Tammy, but can tell you I was very unhappy with the performance of the Nikon 18-300mm that I had. From everything I've read and heard, the Tammy 18-400 is a much better lens.
