Nikon D4S not responding.

My Nikon D4S has a shutter count of 139678. I mainly use a Nikkor 70-200 lens. I loaded a new charged battery and the camera display lights up, but the shutter release is not responding whatsoever. Changed the lens to Sigma 17-50 and had the same results. Took the battery out and replaced. Still nothing.

Any ideas before panic mode sets in?

Sounds like an Shutter button problem... I've always marveled at Nikon's high shutter counts... but no mention of the shutter button/switch lifecycles...

Thanks for your quick reply. I did manage to "fix" it by switching the AF/M button on the front of the camera to M. Presto, shutter working. Took a few snaps, then switched back to AF. Working just fine. Panic attack ceased.

I'm counting on this D4s to last at least another 200,000 actuations before it's laid to rest. It may take that long to get the D850 out of backorder!

Thanks again!

That sounds like you had the Focus Lock setting set the wrong way... There's a setting that won't fire the shutter unless Focus has been achieved... Most folks turn that OFF...

Glad you got it sorted...
