Travel with Cameras

This is kind of off any main topic but, I just purchased a new (and expensive) camera and accessories and am planning to do some traveling.

Given all the new restrictions on airline travel and carry on vs. checking, I'm interested in how safely to bring my cameras and equipment with me. Concerned about checking them and possibly having them stolen. Can I carry them on with me or is that now restricted?

Anyone with some experiences or expertise they can share? Thanks.

check with the airline you are going to fly on for carry on sizes. buy a good camera case. good idea to check with your insurance agent about camera equipment insurance.

No carry on restrictions exist, other than weight limitations. Many airport security folks these days insist that you take your camera out for separate inspection, though, just like a laptop.

Never had any problems bringing my camera and lenses with me in my carry-on bag (which is usually my camera bag anyway.)

"It's not the camera regulations so much, its the lithium battery issues"

On my stop over in Kuwait 2 years ago, i was told that batteries are not allowed on hand carry bag. They confiscated the eneloop batteries for my speedlight.

Battery regulations are news to me, but those you can always throw in your checked bags if needed, otherwise everything but tripods is perfectly fine as carry-ons.
