Using DX lens on FX D610

Just a question to settle a dispute. If a DX is attached to and FX body I know the camera recognizes it and switches to crop mode. So is it a guarantee that the lens will function with the body or could the camera still not operate it correctly giving you say a out of focus picture?

Two different functions... Focus has nothing to do with the crop size... Yes, the camera sees the crop, and yes the lens can be out of focus

Thank you Fred. That is pretty much how I explained it as well. While I get why Nikon added the crop mode I have never been a fan of it.

The DX lens, if it operates on a Nikon DX camera, should work properly on the D610, including focusing properly. The only reason it might not is if you've turned off autocrop and have a focus point near the outside edge of the lens.

Another excellent point. Thanks very much for your reply!
