Vr vs exposure meter

Just curious. I don't actually have my vr lens yet. But since the vr lens allows for a 3-4 stop improvement, does the light meter in camera automatically take advantage of this, or will the meter indicate the exposure is to low/high? Or do i have to brain compensate?

VR does NOT change exposure. It only allows you to hand hold your camera at 3 to 4 times slower shutter speed without getting motion blur. For example, if you need to use at least 1/200 sec with your 200mm lens to get a sharp image, you can change the shutter speed down to 1/30 or 1/15 sec with a corresponding change in aperture/ISO to maintain the correct exposure. VR is vibration reduction. Just like @Bikerbrent mentioned, it can help you use a slower shutter speed in order to have a brighter exposure than the shutter speed you would need on a lease that did not have VR.

That is the manufacturer's marketing statement about VR. Actual results may vary!
