Do these geese have one leg or are the legs tucked into the body?

Pretty impressive. Hard to tell from that angle, but does seem common for birds to stand around on one leg like that.

most birds stand like that, walk towards them and they will drop the other and take off. i have also saw some with parts of their legs missing, guessing catgut (fishing line).

In answer to the question its all to do with heat loss. Birds tuck one leg into their bodies to keep it warm and so they lose half as much heat through their unfeathered and uninsulated exposed foot and leg

It gets warmer there than i thought, 100 degrees!!? that's boiling point!!!:D:D;) That said, my Granny would still have her cardigan on! Dunno about California geese, they just might be damn lazy;)

100 deg F is when summer starts. usually late July to Oct, we are overdue a 120+ summer. Loving this cool wet weather we are having now.
