Good morning Nikonites, I am looking for a good web site to up load my images to for an online portfolio. I have used Flickr and liked it , but I was locked out and can not seem to get any response from Flickr. Before I make a new account I thought I would do some research and see what others are using, and have to say. Thanks.

Flickr is hard to beat, in my opinion, for overall free hosting but here are a couple good alternatives...

If you want something more professional looking, and don't mind paying for it, look into Zenfolio. If you want something free check out 500px; they have free hosting but it will come with some upload restrictions.

Great thanks. One thing I like about Flickr is that I can search for a certain lens or camera and it will pull up images that were done by search criteria. Also, liked the metadata. Which others offer that? Thanks again.

I like SmugMug over Zenfolio, but both work well if you're going for a professional look. Along those lines, you might also check out Squarespace if your goal is to have more of a website and not just an online gallery.

I used SmugMug for my personal travel photos for many years, but when with Zenfolio when I started shooting events. I'm moving away from Zen now and going with a self hosted WordPress site (hosted on my own server, but would also work with hosts like HostGator/BlueHost/etc) for more control over my site.

For things like metadata, that would depend on the gallery used. I haven't seen that capability within Squarespace or Zenfolio. I typically do more of that in Lightroom, but could see where searching for keywords/tags would be useful.

I used Pbase for years and really like it.
Alas, when I was unemployed, things like that went to the wayside. But it isn't much money.
They have EXIF, and I know that they have a catalog of cameras. Not sure about lenses.

What is left of my account:

I used to have my own site, but decided that it was too much work. Instead I use flickr, it's great because it's free, allows hotlinking and has a comunity. In addition I have a photography page on facebook.

For what you are asking flickr is hard to beat, free 1TB of storage is pretty nice with hotliink ability and being able to view and save exif info.

500px is very good, been using it for quite a while now.

If you don't mind paying a bit, I hear GoDaddy is also very popular.
