IF stands for Internal Focus. The key is it needs to be an AF-S lens. If the lens is an AF-S lens, then yes it will auto focus for you.

There's also, now, AF-P, which is relatively new.

The important thing is that it is lenses designated AF-I, AF-S, or AF-P that contain their own focus motors, and which can autofocus on camera bodies that do not have focus motors, as @tea2085's D3300.
