New camera wanted

Hi guys
Im looking for a new camera and hope you can chuck some advice my way.

Im looking at something that can produce decent JPEGs at 6400, hand held at least 125 shutter speed, maybe even a little higher right out the camera.
And that's about it really.
I did contemplate defecting to the dark side Sony A7s for its ability in low light but that means new lenses, etc, etc.

I know the d4 can do it easily but was not banking on spending as much as that. Don't mind either fx or dx.

If you want a low light capable camera that can produce pretty clean ISO at 6400 and don't have the scratch for a D4, I would suggest the D750. Right now Nikon has refurbs for around 1600 bucks till Monday.

You've set a pretty low hurdle. Just about any camera that Nikon makes meets your criteria... from $100 point and shoots to $5,000 DSLRs...

I would advise against the a7s for photography. It kinda sucks AF wise. I had it and even in good light, the 70-200mm f4 (a $1500 lens) would occasionally hunt. The 55mm did better but still for the price of the camera, not worth it. Also the high ISO in my real world use was just OK, not world changing like all the online reviews would have you believe.

A d7200 would be good and in a decent price range. Full frame would be a bit better too if you can swing it. The d750 is amazing. D500 is nice in high ISO in my experience so far and would be worth getting if you need a big buffer too but probably not worth the premium if you're not needing that.

Was looking at the d500 and d750, roughly same price.
Didnt think about the d720 and didn't know it can do 6400 hand held clean images.
No matter how hard I try, I can't nail hand held shots at anything lower than 125 with say a 50mm lens. My technique is on the bad side of poor unless I'm leaning on something for balance.
Thats why I like higher iso to help with shutter.

Any reason you can't use flash? That'd give you better image quality and would remove the need for high ISO

If the D750 is in the mix, but doesn't have the fps, pro controls or whatever you require and cant afford a D4, then the high ISO performance on the D3S is supposed to be as good, some say better and probably about the same price or just lower than a D750, Or a even a second hand D800 perhaps.

Thanks all.
The d5 is overkill for me but looking at the reports on the d500 it looks like a hard camera to pass on if it's a coin toss between that and the d750.
However I was hoping to go full frame this time but everywhere I turn the d500 keeps cropping up especially for speed (sports, birds, etc). I think I'm talking myself into getting this one as the higher iso's look pretty good to me.
