how to tell if a photo is taken with a telehoto lens?

can you easily tell if a photo is taken with a telephoto lens, I need 1 example photo for a few different lenses for school work but I'm trying to use only my photo in my book! could I get away with a photo from a 18-140mm lens?

also,on a few things I read that the d7200 is a wide angle camera?? is that true!

No, not without having the EXIF data or another shot to compare it with. But... If you are required to submit digital copies of your photos to your instructor, you may be submitting EXIF data along with them which would totally blow your cover.

Easy... print the photos on photo paper and tell him it came from a digital file.

Well yes... Then she would be submitting a print, not a digital copy.

My point was/is many beginning digital photographers do not know EXIF data is contained in an invisible side-car file, or is embedded in the digital image itself. If she is required to turn in a digital images, versus prints, she could unwittingly be submitting EXIF data that will expose the lens used to take the photo/s.

If you take two pictures of a small object like say an apple using the 18 - 140mm .

One with the lens set at 18mm which is fairly wide angle and take the shot quite close up so the apple fills say half the frame. Then, take the second shot with the lens set at 140mm which is certainly telephoto and move the camera further away from the apple so again it fills half the frame. The apple will look about the same in both shots but the background will however probably look different.
